Golden Ponds Park and Nature Area
Client: Vernon Golden, V.V. Golden Foundation
Located along the Front Range of Colorado with magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains, Golden Ponds Park and Nature Area is 94 acres with 56 acres of water surface in four ponds. The park features 2.6 miles of trails and serves as a trailhead at the western end of the St. Vrain Greenway that currently extends 8 miles and is considered to be the "crown jewel" of Longmont's trail system as it links a variety of parks, schools, other trails and commercial areas along its length. The land was donated to the City of Longmont by the V.V. Golden Foundation. Vernon Golden, who had mined gravel on this site, donated the land to Longmont citizens as a place to fish, walk and enjoy nature for generations to come.
